Tips

On this page, I will give you a few Beauty Tips that I like to follow while doing Makeup professionally and on myself. Some of these tips I learned from other Artists and some I started myself through trial and error in my earlier days of Makeup. These tips are examples of items I teach during a One on One Makeup Technique Class. I will update this section with new tips for everyone so check back here for new content.

1. In order to get an idea what your skin undertone color is, look at the veins in your forearms. If your veins are blue, then you have pink undertones, which falls into the "Cool" undertone category. If the veins on your forearm are green, then you have yellow or golden undertones, which falls into the "Warm" undertone category. Knowing the undertone color is extremely important in picking the right shades and colors of Makeup that will best compliment your skin.

2. While looking for the perfect color match of foundation, whether liquid or powder, always apply to the jawline first! This allows you to see how the color blends with your face, and everything below your jawline. Do not pick a color solely on the color of your face, consider your skin coloring from the neck and below also. You dont want to have a light face and tan body or vice versa!

3. This Tip applies to all lipstick colors but is especially beneficial when wearing darker colored lipsticks. After applying your lip liner and lipstick, apply a translucent powder to your lips and then reapply your liner and lipstick. This will "Set" your color so to speak to help it remain on longer and help prevent bleeding of color around your lips.

4. Putting on false eyelashes can be a great way to have fun with your Makeup and create many Glamorous looks. After applying a glue to the eyelash strip, preferably Duo Eyelash Adhesive, gently wave the eyelash in the air for around 30 seconds. This makes the glue tacky which will then make the eyelash strip easier to apply and last longer.

5. Cleaning and sanitizing your makeup brushes is very important! This is a great way to protect your investment. Most suggest cleaning your brushes about once a week, depending on usage, this will make them last much longer and help prevent the spread of bacteria. If you do not have an actual "Brush Cleaner" you can substitute with a very mild shampoo, such as baby shampoo. After washing and rinsing, reform the hairs on the brush and let them air dry.
