MAC Color of the week

MAC Color of the Week

Week 3

Hello friends! This weeks MAC Color is Humid which is a great green shade. MAC's color description for this is Intense Vivid Green with shimmer. It does not look like a "grass" green but deeper and has an awesome shimmer. This color can definately be played down for a "day" look. I really like to take a great green shade and add some brown, like Mulch from MAC which is my all time favorite brown shade. Also, I would recommend this shade for any skin color as it is very neutral in that it can be mixed with so many other colors. Ok, so first I applied MAC Vanilla which is described as soft, pale, peachy, ivory and is an awesome base to use before applying your main color. I then used my angled brush from MAC # 275 which is really great for applying eyeshadow and blending. So, using my 275 brush I applied the Humid just above my lashline to a little above the crease of my eye. Since this brush is angled it is great to use when making a smooth angle on the outer sides of your shadow which is what I did in the photo above. You can make the angle very dramatic, with sharp clean lines, or you can make it softer by blending all the edges and not extending it very far. I then took my # 219 pencil brush which is literally like a pencil and is used for precision lines or crease color and applied a light amount of Satin Taupe below the crease. Satin Taupe is another brown to check out from MAC as it is very shimmery and beautiful. So back to it, I used the little bit of Satin Taupe to make the Humid pop even more. Hopefully you can check out this color or some of the similar green shades that MAC offers. Like I say, play with it and mix it with other shades to see what works for you. Hopefully this gives you all a little direction on choosing a great green to add to your makeup bag. Stay tuned for the next MAC color of the week :)

Week 2

Hello everyone! This weeks MAC color is Plum Dressing. This is described as a Pinky Plum but definately looks purple-plum and it is in the Veluxe Pearl category giving it a high shine. This is a great color especially for people with Fair skin as it will show up with such bright pigment. Whenever I use this color, whether on myself or a client, I feel it exudes a "Rocker look" but you can definately play it down. With any eyeshadow color you control the end result in the application-whether you apply multiple layers to deepen the color or one layer creating a light look. With this look I was going a bit darker with a shimmer base for that I first applied Bare Study which is a MAC Paint pot. These are really great creme shadows that are highly pigmented and dry to a powder. I will do a review on Paint pots at a later time. Ok, so I first applied the Bare Study then put on the Plum Dressing. After a couple layers of that I also put a light layer of Shale smudged around my lash line. Shale is another favorite of mine-it is a Mauve-Plum with shimmer. After all 3 colors were applied I used a small shader brush, the MAC 231 brush and lightly blended any corners. So try this color out, play with it and mix it up until you find out what works best for you! Hope you all enjoyed this Color. Stay tuned for the next Color of the Week :)

Week 1

Hey everyone! So for my first MAC shadow color of the week I chose to share a fave of mine which is Deep Truth. This is described as a True Dark Blue and it is a Frost shadow. What I love about this color is how vibrant and versatile it is, I can wear it very dark with a charcoal like Knight Divine to make a smokey look. I can also lighten it up as I did in this photo where I used Shroom as my base, and mixed Deep Truth and Dreammaker which is a frosty Gold giving it a bright, high frost look. After applying all three of these MAC shadows, I gently blended them together using a favorite MAC brush of mine; the 239 Eye Shader brush. There are many shadow colors that I would not recommend for certain skin colors but as I said before this color is very versatile for all skin colors and can be used for simple day to night transformations. Stay tuned for the next color of the week :)
